Hi Again!!!! Some stuff from my sketch book.

Let the art dump begin...

Edit: Thank you blogger for almost messing up my post. Sorry if the feed/paragraph/the post thing on the blogger reader list thing jumbles up this post.  I was not expecting it to do that. Since almost every sketch has a caption under it, blogger shows the captions on the reader list thing as one paragraph. Sorry about that!

Sketch-a-Day #3

The camera is working a little better for this sketch.  This bird sketch is a practice on line weight and variety.

Thin lines, thick lines, soft lines, sharp lines, etc.  My teacher from my Drawing II class said that clean and crisp lines make for a great drawing.  Also, using "3-d lines" can help the subject look more dimensional against a flat surface.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, everyone!

My classes start on Wednesday the 4th and I very excited but a little nervous about the new quarter.  I been getting those weird days where I'm not drawing or doing anything art related at all.  I think I'm lacking in confidence in my abilities despite strengthening them during my first year at SCAD.  I guess when I go on these extended breaks, I lose that drive to do anything, or think up ideas, or anything creative.

I did pull myself out of "art depression" and I started back drawing.  The sketches may not be the still lives I drew in Drawing 100 but at least I drew something:

I'm playing around with human/animal hybrids.

Sketches...post

This week I'm drawing a final linear still life based on what I learned in my Drawing 100 class.  It's interesting though, even though I am experienced artist I still need this class to review and go back to the basic things on creating art.  Drawing from life, reviewing elements of art and design, and rediscovering what makes my artwork work and what makes it boring allows me to strengthen my artistic skills.  I'm thankful of faithfulness of my God and family and friends and you.

Meh, mooshy stuff. Anyway, Sketches!!!!

Cute, Cute, Cute, Cute!

Drawing Bird Wings...

I've been practicing on drawing bird wings.  I used some pictures from the internet and two very helpful tutorials: Bird's Wing Anatomy by unkraut (downloadable) and Bird Wing Tutorial by TheAntimonyElement.

Also, my SCAD orientation for the fall semester is tomorrow!  Squeee!

So here's the wings:

Wing drawing from a diagram.  This diagram shows the anatomy of a feathered wing.

Random drawing of a wing from memory.  Yeeah, I needed those tutorials...

Hawk wing.

Duck wing. I had trouble on the secondaries.
