Swordtember Prompt 10: Royal
Arch Ekaterini (She/Her), a sovereign of Erdestra and progenitor of Prince Luther. In this image, she is 150yrs old with a permanent core crumbling, some parts of her blade are covered with protective plates.
Crumbling comes in many different forms depending on a living object's core type. Crumbling is when an object's ichor structure fails to self-repair parts of their core and usually occurs later in life. It's possible, however, for younger living objects to undergo crumbling if they got a major injury or undergo failed revivals. It's a chronic uncurable condition that worsens over time, but there are ways to improve one's quality of life. Patching holes with materials, avoiding activities that may cause injury, and assistive tools for daily life are ways that help those with crumbling.
Hatched from a family of steel knives, Arch Ekaterini is the 2nd Arch of Erdestra. A skilled fighter and a sharp strategist, Ekaterini was known for her battles against the Janthizerain conquest of her kingdom. In the early years of her rule, she saw two larger kingdoms absorbed by Janthizera and the resulting conflicts it sparked. Erdestra was still a young kingdom then, but Ekaterini knew Arch Thermite will soon turn his gaze toward her home.
Ekaterini's first battles against Janthizera were rough but successful. And so for years, Arch Thermite waged war with Erdestra, but Ekaterini was determined not to let him win. Then at the war's peak, Arch Thermite, leading his charge, battled Ekaterini herself to dethrone her. Both suffered heavy losses, as well as suffering major injuries themselves. Due to the strain the war had on their resources and their kingdoms' morale, both arches agreed to a cease-fire.
Ekaterini watched over her kingdom's safety during the remainder of her rule. She established new towns and made a new alliance with the Domains of Granite Dome, a small collection of neutral towns near her kingdom. Ekaterini's reign ended when she passed from premature Crumbling caused by her injuries from her battle with Arch Thermite.
